Our eyes or our minds – what causes driver distraction?
From eye tracking to emotional AI – every company has their own preferred approach for catching distracted driving. To discover which aspect of driver distraction has the most critical effect on driving performance, a group of scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) constructed an experiment.
The purpose of the experiment was to get an indication of how different types of distracting elements, gaze location and cognitive load, affect driving performance. And the results gave a clear answer.
